What is the International Social Housing Festival?

Recognized as a leading European event, it is promoted by Housing Europe, the European Federation of Public, Cooperative and Social Housing, in collaboration with its member organizations. Its main goals are:

To highlight the role of social, public, and cooperative housing in achieving socially and environmentally sustainable living in our cities;

To bring together policymakers, researchers, urban planners, architects, and activists from around the world to discuss and share best practices in the field of social and affordable housing.

Why Lisbon?

In 2027, Gebalis and the Lisbon City Council will take the lead in organizing the International Social Housing Festival.

Lisbon’s commitment to accessible, inclusive, and resilient housing makes the Portuguese capital the perfect host city.

Lisbon is a city where tradition meets innovation, where diverse communities thrive, and where a strong sense of social responsibility is deeply rooted. We believe that Lisbon’s unique character and its dedication to creating sustainable and inclusive living spaces make it the perfect setting for the International Social Housing Festival in 2027.

Lisbon is ready to welcome the world and lead the transformation of social housing in Europe.

Fernando Angleu, CEO of Gebalis

Welcome to Lisbon!

It is with great pride and a sense of mission that we announce that Lisbon will be the host city of the next edition of ISHF2027.

Come with us to share the best that Europe has to offer in terms of affordable housing, policies, programs, innovation, projects, exhibitions, works, guided tours through our municipal neighbourhoods’ sustainable ecosystems, seminars, workshops, co-working lounges.

And, of course, there will also be moments of our kind of team building, socializing in cultural events, as only the soul of Lisbon knows how, enjoying the best views, gastronomy, hotspots and revealing partnerships of this diverse and cosmopolitan city.

See you in Lisbon in the ISHF2027!
